Founded in 1979, Trickle Up empowers people living on less than $1 a day to take the first steps up out of poverty, providing them with resources to build microenterprises for a better quality of life. Business training, seed capital grants, and relevant support services are provided. Trickle Up offers grants, not loans, to entrepreneurs because of the commitment to working with the extreme poor - people who are unable to obtain a microloan. Trickle Up works in eight countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and in 2007, Trickle Up launched 11,141 micro businesses. Trickle Up believes in people and their capacity to make a difference. Trickle Up empowers the world's poorest people to develop their potential and strengthen their communities.
